By Media Corps Girl Scout, Ellone
Earlier this month, I completed my first field assignment of Media Corps at Cookie University in Amarillo, TX. It brought back many memories of my first Cookie University experience in second grade as a first year Brownie Girl Scout. I still have the passport I was given, which was stamped at the completion of each activity station.
The “Cookie Walk” was my favorite activity, especially because I tasted the cookies for the first time! I was certainly nervous about door-to-door cookie sales, and I am glad I had the opportunity to practice it first.
This year, I am a first year Cadette. Although I’m too old to attend Cookie University, I can still enjoy the experience as a guide for younger Girl Scouts. I recognized the same excitement and nervousness I felt the first time selling cookies.
The cool thing about being a Girl Scout is the magical way we relate to each other, and I can offer encouragement and guidance from a uniquely shared experience. I appreciate all the help I receive from my parents and leaders, but it is truly special to be supported and challenged by my Girl Scout sisters.
