CEO Becky Burton Announces Retirement
Becky Burton, CEO of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, has announced her retirement, effective spring 2026. A Gold Award Girl Scout and Lifetime Member, Becky's lifelong commitment to the Girl Scout Movement began in second grade in her hometown of Abilene, Texas.
Becky's distinguished Girl Scout career spans more than 40 years. She began her professional journey in July 1984 with the NorCenTex Council in Wichita Falls, Texas, before moving to the Virginia Skyline Council in 1988. In 1993, she returned to Texas as Program and Training Director of Caprock Council in Lubbock. Her leadership and dedication led to her appointment as Executive Director in 2001. In 2008, Becky was named CEO of the newly formed Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, where she served for nearly two decades.
"I am grateful to Becky for her many years of leadership as CEO of our council, bringing integrity, passion for the mission, and a steadfast focus on the needs of the girls to the forefront of every decision," said Jan Titsworth, chair of the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors will launch a national search for the next CEO, with the goal of having a successor in place to work alongside Becky and ensure a seamless transition for Girl Scout members, staff, and community partners.
