In the STEM Career Exploration Badge for juniors and cadettes, students will take an inspiring journey into the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and discover how these fields can shape a powerful, purposeful future. What They'll Explore * Understanding STEM: We'll define STEM, talk about why these fields matter, and highlight the importance of more girls' voices and perspectives in shaping the future. * STEM Career Discovery: Girls will meet a variety of real-world STEM careers - including some they might never have heard of - sparking inspiration and opening doors to new possibilities. * Teacher's Journey: They'll hear about their teacher's personal career story: how she made her choices, what her daily work is like, what challenges she faced, and where she hopes to go next. * Confidence Building: Through discussion and activities, girls will reflect on what confidence means, why it matters in STEM, and how belief in themselves can help them take risks, learn from failure, and grow stronger. * Skills to Succeed: Together, the class will identify key "soft" and "hard" skills - like teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and perseverance - that are essential in any career, especially STEM. * Personal Goal Setting: Each girl will create her own action plan: short-term goals (right now), aspirations for high school, and longer-term dreams, all rooted in her interests and Outcomes.
