This class takes a closer look at how Artificial Intelligence shapes decisions, influences information, and quietly operates behind many of the tools we use every day. Instead of focusing only on what AI does, girls will examine how it arrives at its answers, what it relies on, and where it can go wrong. Through guided examples, they will begin to question how data is selected, how outcomes are produced, and why some results may not always be accurate or fair. A central part of the session is understanding responsibility. Participants will explore real situations where AI has impacted people's experiences, opening up discussion around fairness, representation, and accountability. This creates space for thoughtful conversation about who builds technology, whose perspectives are included, and what it means to design systems that serve everyone. The class moves beyond observation into application. Girls will engage in an interactive online project where they experiment with how inputs influence outputs. By adjusting variables and testing outcomes, they will see how small changes can affect results, giving them a more practical understanding of how AI systems respond and adapt. Rather than presenting AI as something distant or complex, the session positions it as something that can be questioned, shaped, and improved. Girls are encouraged to form opinions, challenge assumptions, and recognise that critical thinking is just as important as technical skill in this space. By the end of the class, participants will have a more thoughtful perspective on how AI functions in real contexts, along with a stronger sense of their ability to engage with it in an informed and intentional way. *Patch is not included.
