As part of a multi-year growth strategy for Girl Scouting in Amarillo, Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains has sold the Girl Scouts office on SW 45th Avenue. With the sale of this building, Girl Scouts will invest the proceeds into the Amarillo area with new, key updates to Camp Kiwanis and a modern program and retail space.
Key Highlights:
The growth of Girl Scouting in Amarillo will create infinite possibilities for Camp Kiwanis with voices of girls and volunteers included along the way. Kodie McManus, co-chair of the Amarillo Program and Property Committee, along with her committee, has offered a strong volunteer voice to the strategy and changes to grow Girl Scouting in Amarillo.
“Our girls are doing so many amazing things and will continue to do so as they reach for the stars. We will provide so many great future opportunities for our current and future Girl Scouts. I am so excited for the growth and possibilities our girls and our families will have with this transition. Your continued patience and support are two of the many pillars that lift our girls to their highest potential,” she said.
As the Randall County Service Unit Manager, Kodie reminds us, “As this transition progresses, I urge each and every one of you to support the local programming opportunities, including the summer day camp opportunities at Camp Kiwanis. The success of the day camp opportunities is the first step to resuming residential summer camp opportunities.”
The move out of the current building will not occur before the end of the Girl Scout Cookie Season. A specific date has not been set. Updates will be provided at least every two weeks with new information and timelines, as they become available.
