Veggie Gumbo in this class with Kids Table!
In this second class in our five part series, we invite you to grab your biggest pot, a slew of spices and learn how to make a silky roux from scratch for this special Cajun cuisine - Vegetarian Gumbo! You won’t miss the seafood or sausage in this veggie version of the New Orleans classic (and if you do miss it, feel free to add it on in!). Gumbos rely on a roux to produce their thick silky texture. A roux is made by whisking equal parts fat and flour together to make a paste, which thickens whatever liquid you whisk in (here, veggie broth). For gumbo, you toast the flour first to deepen both the color and flavor of the base. Learn more as we cook together!
