In early June, Texas and Oklahoma entered Phase 3 of their reopening plans. Based on those guidelines, GS-TOP developed a tentative plan for the return of in-person activities in July. Unfortunately, reopening has resulted in a significant rise in COVID-19 cases in our council service area. As such, in-person meetings, events, and travel are still not permitted.
COVID-19 is an extremely contagious virus that spreads easily through person-to-person contact. As with any social activity, participation in Girl Scouts could present the risk of contracting COVID-19. While GS-TOP takes every safety and preventative precaution, we can in no way warrant that COVID-19 infection will not occur through participation in GS-TOP programs.
Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains continues to monitor updates from health experts, national, and local officials related to the coronavirus pandemic. Safety and health remain our top priority. We are continuing to make decisions about gatherings and workplace closures based on the guidance of the CDC and local officials.
Here is our current status:
- All GS-TOP offices, retail shops*, and camp properties will remain closed until further notice
- All in-person troop meetings, service unit meetings, troop travel, and other Girl Scout-related gatherings are suspended until further notice
- All council-sponsored girl and volunteer in-person program events and travel are postponed until further notice
- Summer 2020 resident camp and High Adventure Trips are cancelled
