Lubbock Area Women to Receive Honors for Inspiring Girls

Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains is proud to announce the 2019 Women of Distinction award recipients. The Women of Distinction program honors exceptional women who have made significant contributions in key areas identified by the The Girl Scouts Research Institute to positively influence success for girls in leadership roles. Recipients and focus areas include:

  • Monica Hilburn Tracy (Communities in Schools)
    Connect Award
  • Sheila Patterson Harris (City of Lubbock)
    Take Action Award
  • Pat Henry (Retired)
    Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Glenn Cochran (Lubbock Area United Way)
    Man Enough to Be a Girl Scout Award

“These honorees are role models who show girls they can accomplish anything they set their minds to,” said Becy Burton, chief executive officer for Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains. “If girls can see it, they can be it. These women have broken down barriers and paved the way for girls today to follow in their footsteps.”
