Chapter 1.3: Knowing How Much You’re Appreciated
Whatever your volunteer position, your hard work means the world to girls, to GS-TOP staff, and to Girl Scouts of the USA. Girls could never experience all the benefits of Girl Scouting without you, so thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Just as you’ll receive support throughout your volunteering experience, when you reach the end of the term you signed up for, you’ll submit an Annual Volunteer Review form about the positive parts of your experience, as well as the challenges you faced, and indicate whether you want to return in this position or try something new. The end of your troop year, camp season, trip, or series/event session doesn’t have to be the end of your time with Girl Scouting!
If you’re ready for more opportunities to work with girls be sure to let your support team know how you’d like to be a part of girls’ lives in the future—whether in the same position or in other, flexible ways. Are you ready to take a trip? work with girls at camp? work with a troop of girls as a year-long volunteer? share your skills at a GS-TOP office, working behind the scenes? The possibilities are endless, and can be tailored to fit your skills and interests.
GSUSA Recognitions
GSUSA and GS-TOP have developed recognitions and awards to honor adult Girl Scouts for their dedication and service. Anyone may nominate another individual for these awards. Doing so shows your recognition of that volunteer’s service and leadership.
Please note that there are specific deadlines for submitting nominations in order that they may be presented at a Celebration and Recognition Event. Complete details on the awards, applications and nomination forms for all these recognitions and awards are available at www.gs-top.org and your local Girl Scout Service Center.
GS-TOP Awards
GS-TOP has established a formal award system for honoring Girl Scout adult members whose accomplishments have impacted GS-TOP and are so significant that they should not go unrewarded or unnoticed. These awards provide the means to acknowledge individuals and service teams for their unique and outstanding service. Click here for a list of these awards and their requirements.
Nomination and endorsement forms are available at all Girl Scout Service Centers or at www.gs-top.org/forms Any questions can be directed to the GS-TOP Volunteer Services Department at the following locations:
