Why Support Our Girls
Leadership experiences for girls are what make Girl Scouting unique. We help every girl, everywhere, discover who she can be, what she can do, however she chooses. Through real leadership programs, girls are given the opportunity to try on different roles and grow into the ones that fit her best – making her the leader in her own life.

“ Thank you Girl Scouts for making me the young lady I am today. Scouting has shaped my desire to serve, to work hard, my character and my future.”
– Alyx, GS-TOP Scholarship Recipient
Real Investment in Girls, Learning, and Leadership
Real Investment that Lasts
Nearly 100 years ago, a woman with a revolutionary idea told the nation that she had something for all girls. That woman was Juliette Gordon Low, and the gift she brought to women has grown to become the world’s preeminent leadership organization for girls.
Juliette Low’s vision is as relevant today as it was in 1912:
- To provide opportunities for learning between girls and adults
- To allow girls to broaden their horizons and explore diverse worlds
- To encourage girls to gain knowledge, skills, confidence and self-reliance that will lead to productive lives.
Today, Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains is keeping Juliette’s vision alive and moving into the future.
“Through all the wonderful things that I have done in Girl Scouts, I was able to find something that I love and a future career in helping others and making the world a better place; and I think that’s what the organization is here to do.”
Real Support for the Future
There are many reasons to give to Girl Scouts. You must know at least one: a daughter, granddaughter, niece, relative, or friend. There are more than 23,000 reasons in our council alone.
It costs between $200 and $300 per girl per year to provide the leadership experience of Girl Scouting. Leadership, environmental education, self-reliance, economic self-sufficiency, and teamwork are but a few of the valuable lessons girls learn in Girl Scouts. Each girl enrolled in a Girl Scouts of Texas OKlahoma Plains activity benefits from your generosity, through membership subsidies, troop start-up funds, service unit allocations, camperships, volunteer training, parent guides, and program fees.
Your gift to support Girl Scouting will have a dramatic impact on the lives of girls in Texas Oklahoma Plains. When you contribute, you invest in the future of 23,500 girls in our area – including your own Girl Scout. Today’s girls will become the CEO’s, bankers, doctors, lawyers, police, engineers, scientists, teachers, mayors, parents, and leaders of the future. The girls you support today are destined to become women of courage, confidence, and character who will make the world a better place.
