Come Fly Away with Girl Scouts
Come Fly Away with Girl Scouts and spend a day exploring Aviation. Through hands-on activities, girls will discover aviation careers, technology, history, and much more!
Have you ever wanted to fly an airplane, or learn how airplanes "magically" stay up in the air? Did you know... that women have been in the aviation industry since the beginning? That the City of Fort Worth isn’t just "Cowtown", but rather a major entity in the aviation industry?
Girl Scouts is teaming up with several aviation organizations to bring you a day to explore everything you wanted to know about flight and air travel. Through hands-on activities and games, you will find out about aviation careers, women and their role in aviation, history of aviation in Fort Worth and elsewhere, and many other fascinating facts about aviation. This action packed day is designed for girls of all ages. Girls will have the opportunity to attend sessions for their age-level. The morning sessions will be geared toward the younger girls, with the afternoon sessions for the older girls. A schedule of activities will be available in April.
The Fort Worth Aviation Museum, Ninety-Nines (an organization of women pilots), Women in Aviation International (WAI), and the History of Aviation and Science Group are a few of the organizations that will be at this event.
You may attend with a parent or with a troop. Remember, that adult to girl ratios apply at all times during the day. Activities will be held inside the museum, in the hangar, or on the grounds with the historical planes. Feel free to attend for a portion or the whole day. Either way, plan to bring a sack lunch and enjoy a picnic lunch outside.
