Description

Thinking Day and Butterfly Session
2009 Adult Trip to Our Cabana, Angangueo, Mexico

Cost estimate: $1,200.00 per person
Location of Adventure: Mexico
Group Size Limit: Approximately 12 Travelers

Trip Overview: Feb. 13, 14, and 15 at Ticalli and have all day Saturday and Sunday to play/explore Mexico City. Feb. 16 to 25 at Our Cabana, travelers participate in activities, games and projects with global themes to honor our sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries.

Experience one of the world’s most astounding natural events occurring each year in Angangueo, Mexico, featuring one of its most unlikely creatures, the delicate monarch butterfly. The monarchs are just dancing embers in the forest. Join us to see big orange explosions and millions flying, flapping, gliding creatures. The boughs and trunks of the trees are draped with curtains of monarchs resting quietly in the shade. It’s a moving phenomenon not to be missed!

Payment plan: Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains Council, Inc.  will be our depository so all payments can be made out to the council, and sent attention to Diane Davis.  We need to have a deposit of $500.00 as soon as possible to take advantage of the current favorable airfare rates.  Your final payment must be in by December 31, 2008.

Physical Requirements: Visits to the monarch butterfly sanctuaries require walking about two miles at altitudes up to 10,660 feet, sometimes over rough terrain, and can be considered strenuous for people who are less active. We suggest that travelers concerned with their physical capabilities contact Ginny Montgomery for details on the exact physical requirements of this trip, and their personal physician for her/his opinion.
