GSUSA Destinations Event
Here’s another great getaway opportunity for girls!
The Environmental Awareness Leadership Institute provides 42 girls going into 7th and 8th grade the opportunity to use cutting-edge technology and serve as agents of change while solving environmental problems along Pittsburgh’s three rivers. As part of the Girl Scout theme, “It’s Your World – Change It”, co-sponsored by the Girls, Math and Science Partnership (GMSP), a program of Carnegie Science Center features GMSP’s signature spy school, “Click!” During the field trips, you’ll learn about energy consumption at Kennywood amusement park, test organic beauty products, tour green and eco-friendly buildings in the city of Pittsburgh, view exhibits about technology, while exploring innovative solutions to combat environmental issues.

A destination is your chance to go somewhere new, do something different, and meet people from everywhere you can imagine.
Things to Know
- Choose from many types of events. See what life is really like for an M.D. or camp in the green depths of the Costa Rican rainforest.
- You can travel around the corner or around the globe.
- Check www.studio2b.org often-destinations are constantly being added!
- Don't be intimidated by the price. Many of the events are offered at reduced prices from what the public would be charged. Plus, part of the event fee can be earned through the Cookie Sale and Girl Scouts of the USA can help you with ideas for raising money for your trip.

Click through the events. Pick your top four choices. Go on a destination. Travel has never been easier.
Between the Pick and Go
- Download the application form and complete it.
- Print out two copies of the reference form and ask two people who know how awesome you are to fill them out.
- Send your application Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, Inc. by November 1.

- You'll know whether you've been accepted to go on your destination between January and April.
A destination Match
There are six categories of destinations. Which one is right for you?- International: Events outside of the U.S.
- Outdoors: Events ranging from learning outdoor skills to Outward Bound challenges on land or sea.
- Science: Events that take science to a new level. Learn animal behavior or what a doctor's life is like.
- People: Events that visit cities and countryside so you can experience the culture of new places.
- Apprenticeships: Events that give you hands-on, real-life experience in a potential career field.
- Getaways: Two to four day events all over the country, that don't require the GSUSA destinations application.
