Green Corner

Green Corner

This month, connect to your inner green! March 1 is a very important birthday - Yellowstone National Park is celebrating 138 years. Yellowstone is the first national park, and started a tradition of parks and wildlife preserves that has kept many parts of our nation "wild" for future generations to enjoy.

Celebrate by visiting a state or national park this month - go online with a parent to www.nps.gov or www.tpwd.state.tx.us and learn about sites near you - maybe your troop can take a trip and camp at one of these beautiful locations! If you go, don't forget - as part of a "green" Girl Scout lifestyle, we do our best to "leave no trace." Check www.lnt.org for useful tips on how to lower your impact on the environment while camping. Talk to your troop - how can you adapt these principles in your life?

We want to hear from YOU! Earth Day is April 22, and to celebrate the greenest day of the year we want to feature your "green" ideas, poems, art projects and stories! To share your "green" ideas, ask a parent to help you email Lindsay at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or Summer at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Then, check out the April edition of The Runner, along with The Green Corner on www.gs-top.org to see your green contribution!
