What's Going on With Girl Scout Badges?

GSUSA presents the exciting new Girls Guide to Girl Scouting this fall.  Some badges will not make it through the process, some will be combined and others still will be stronger, more powerful resources which add spark to the girls’ imagination and journey. To help leaders tie the program resources together, GSUSA will also show you which badges link to each of the Journeys series.

Previous handbooks, Interest Projects, Junior Badge Book, Brownie Try-It Book and the Daisy Activity books and the awards that go with them are being discontinued.

By October 2011, The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting (one for each grade level) will be available in our shops and include a variety of badge offerings, handbook sections covering traditions and history, Cookie badges, an awards log, and much more. View the new badges and learn about their meaning.

You may know the goals of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) are that each activity provides an opportunity for girls to Discover, Connect and Take Action. To align with this effort, badges are being vetted through the GSLE guide to ensure that they keep up with where girls are and truly help girls Discover themselves and the world around them, Connect with others - in and out of Girl Scouts - and Take Action in the real world.
