Introduction to Canoeing

This one-day, 6 hour, training is available only to registered Girl Scout adults with entry-level paddling skills for individuals desiring an introduction to the sport of canoeing. Participants will learn to paddle a canoe on calm open water, what equipment is necessary to get started, water safety, how to select boats, paddles and lifejackets as well as basic paddling strokes, maneuvers, boat control, launching, landing and carrying boats. This class is the prerequisite for Aquatic Explorer.
